- "I have just been awarded the National Collection, (full status),
of Spider and Unusual Forms. There are currently nearly 260 cultivars in
my collection as part of 1000 + in total. I absolutely love the exotic form
of daylily. I started with Lady Neva, a stunning back of the border beauty
and have never looked back.
- Because I am so excited about the unusual form I decided at the end
of 2002 that I would like to get more people looking at them and enjoying
them. It was at that time that I contacted the NCCPG with a view to applying
for the collection.
- Many e-mails later I was visited by Peter Short, the Hampshire organiser
in July 2003 and, after filling in what seemed like an endless questionnaire,
the paperwork was done, the site was examined and I waited with baited
breath. The collection was put forward to the first meeting of 2004 and
agreed. I have yet to receive all the paperwork etc. involved with the
award of the collection but as a fellow collection holder told me recently
"now the hard work starts". Still, I hope it will be worth it
if it gets more people to see and appreciate this wonderful form of daylily.
This has all been very exciting and I can't wait for the 2005 season."
